The city of Bad Wimpfen accepted the sponsorship of the Germans from Ödenburg in 1951. In 1966 a homeland office was opened in the old youth hostel. The assets preserved are biological preparations, minerals, roman ceramics, implements, folk costumes, textile handicrafts, household utensils, country and stylish furniture, flags, busts, paintings, and graphic arts.
The museum has at its disposal archives of family legal documents, manuscripts, charts and maps. Also a homeland personnel card index, photos, slides, and sound media are available.
To the collection also belongs a city picture and commemoratives. Reference material on economics, art as well as societies and education is available.
In the permanent collection, the visitor sees kitchen furniture, various rooms and ecological themes.
