The Bad Rappenau museum is accommodated in the cultural house "Forum Fränkischer Hof", a Frankish court grounds from the early Victorian period.
It conveys a lasting impression of the salt works and mineral springs story as an important and inseparable part of the history of the complete Holy Roman Empire Knight's village of Rappenau. Bad Rappenau secured its first industrial presence in 1823 with the salt works, which just shut down the evaporation facilities in 1973 for profitability reasons. With the successful salt well drilling, the cornerstone for the mineral springs spa was also laid in 1822 by Dürkheim salt works inspector Georg Christian Heinrich Rosentritt. By 1834, the opening of the Sophienbad, the first mineral springs spa in the former Baden grand duchy, had already occurred. The museum houses at the same time an extensive collection of items related to our town's prehistoric times and early history. | ||||
